Dragon boat race on the Vecht
Add an energetic boost to your meeting with our dragon boat race on the Overijsselse Vecht, one of Mooirivier’s most popular outdoor activities, full of excitement and spectacle, and the perfect teambuilding experience to power up your business event.
Spectacle on the Water
Two teams in long, narrow dragon boats compete in an intense race. At the front of the boat, the team leader sets the rhythm on a large drum, while the steersperson at the back guides the course. In between, the team members sit in pairs along the boat, paddling as hard as they can.
Real teamwork is essential to power a dragon boat. When everyone works together, strength and speed emerge: a fully crewed dragon boat can reach speeds of up to 17 km per hour! It's top-notch team building!
The race takes place on the Overijsselse Vecht. From the terrace at Mooirivier, the spectacle is easy to watch and cheer on! Which team will cross the finish line first?
Dragon Boat
Dragon boating originates from an ancient Chinese tradition and is still practiced at a high level in China and surrounding Eastern countries.
A dragon boat is a 12-meter-long, narrow open canoe with a large dragon head at the bow, decorated with scales and featuring a tail at the stern.
The race distance is approximately 200 meters. Before the race, an experienced steersperson gives thorough instructions to the drummer and crew, followed by time to practice.
This unforgettable group activity is perfect for teambuilding days or an active break during a meeting, and is available to book from April through October.
