Dragon Boat Race on the Vecht
Give your meeting an energetic boost with our dragon boat race on the Overijssel Vecht – one of Mooirivier’s most popular outdoor activities, full of thrills and spectacle, and the perfect teambuilding experience to elevate your business day.
Teamwork in action on the water
Two teams in long, narrow dragon boats race each other in a fiercely competitive battle. At the front, the team leader beats a large drum to set the pace, while the helmsman at the back keeps the boat on course. In between, the team members sit side by side, paddling with all their strength.
It takes real teamwork to master a dragon boat. When everyone works in sync, the boat gains power and speed – a fully crewed dragon boat can reach up to 17 km per hour! The ultimate teambuilding challenge.
The race takes place on the Overijssel Vecht. From Mooirivier’s terrace, you’ll have a perfect view of the action and can cheer on the teams. Which team will cross the finish line first?
Dragon Boat
Dragon boating has its roots in an ancient Chinese tradition and is still practiced at a high level today in China and across neighboring Asian countries.
A dragon boat is a 12-meter-long, narrow open canoe, featuring a large dragon head at the bow, painted scales along its sides, and a dragon tail at the stern.
The course covers approximately 200 meters. Before the race, an experienced helmsman provides detailed instructions to the drummer and crew, followed by a practice session to get everyone in sync.
This unforgettable group activity is ideal for teambuilding days or as an energetic break during a meeting. Available to book from April through October.
