The Lemelerberg: Nature at Its Best
One of those special places in the Mooirivier area is De Lemelerberg. It is part of the Sallandse Heuvelrug, one of the largest contiguous nature reserves in the Netherlands. This hilly, varied nature reserve can be explored by bicycle, on foot or with a mountain bike. You will find extensive heathland, interspersed with sand plains, forests and springs. The area is special because of the large amount of juniper berries and the sand lizard. And with a bit of luck you will come across the flock of sheep. An absolute must-see and definitely worth a visit!

The Vechtdal was made to be explored. Stroll along leafy lanes, cycle past castles and estates, or discover the Vecht by canoe or SUP. A guest favourite: the castles and country estates route, with the centuries-old Vilsteren estate as its highlight – a hidden gem just moments from the hotel.
